Ilaix Moriba continues to be the centre of attention at Barcelona, but this time it isn’t about his contract renewal talks with the club.
The 18-year-old midfielder has yet to agree terms with Barcelona as he feels his needs have not been met by the club, which has provoked some Barcelona fans to behave in a totally unacceptable manner through the players’ social media.
Ilaix published a video on TikTok which gave a glimpse of the racial abuse he has been receiving as a result of failing to come to an agreement with Barcelona, something that the player believes is totally unacceptable and should be stopped or intercepted by social media companies.
Barcelona have thrown their support behind Ilaix with a message on social media.
We love football. We fight racism,” their tweet read, accompanied by the youngster’s video.
Last season, Ilaix made 18 appearances for the Barcelona first team, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
