Inter Milan confirmed Frank de Boer as new head coach

Frank de Boer has been officially confirmed as the new head coach of Inter Milan on a three-year contract.

The Dutchman will be unveiled by the Serie A club at a news conference on Tuesday afternoon and was approached to become the next Nerazzurri boss after Roberto Mancini’s departure on Monday.

Former Manchester City manager Mancini left the San Siro by mutual consent due to a breakdown in his relationship with the board.

A statement on the club’s website confirmed De Boer’s appointment as his successor had been rubber-stamped under ambitious new owners Suning Holdings.

“[Frank] de Boer will join the Nerazzurri on a three-year contract and will take charge of first team training this afternoon,” a statement read. “The Dutchman brings with him a wealth of international experience having played at the highest level for both club and country. As head coach of Ajax De Boer won four consecutive Eredivisie titles between 2011 and 2014.”

In a brief video posted on the club’s Twitter feed on Monday night the former Netherlands defender, who left his role as Ajax manager in May, said: “Hello Inter fans, I’m very happy to be here and I hope to see you soon.”
