The Nigeria Police Force confirmed his return in a statement issued on Saturday, April 19, by spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi via X (formerly Twitter).

Killaboi, who had been on the run for over a year, was accused of killing 21-year-old Augusta, a first-class student of Lead City University, at his residence in Ajah, Lagos, on July 13, 2023. The extradition followed coordinated efforts by the Nigeria Police, Federal Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL Abuja, and Qatari authorities, after a petition was filed by the victim’s family in September 2024.

“After committing the crime, the suspect fled Nigeria and released an online video purporting to confess a deceptive move to derail investigations,” the police stated.

The hunt for Killaboi spanned multiple countries, with the suspect using forged identities and fake passports. He was first arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone, in October 2023 under the alias Kanu Princeton Samuel, but escaped during a prison break in November.

Eventually tracked to Doha, Qatar, he was arrested in January 2025 under another alias, Toure Abdoulaye, having used a fake Guinean passport to gain employment and hide in plain sight.

Killaboi is now in Nigeria and expected to face charges as investigations continue into one of the country’s most widely followed murder cases.
