Despite Real Madrid’s stunning 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night, Kylian Mbappe is refusing to give up on his team’s hopes of a comeback.
Goals from Declan Rice (who scored two brilliant free-kicks) and Mikel Merino secured a commanding victory for the Gunners, leaving Madrid facing a daunting three-goal deficit ahead of the second leg at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Mbappe, who had several opportunities in the first half, remains upbeat and believes his team can still turn things around. Speaking after the match, the Real Madrid star said: “The comeback is possible, of course. We have to believe until the end.”

While Carlo Ancelotti’s men face a tough challenge, they only need to look back to 2019 when Liverpool overcame a 3-0 first-leg loss to Barcelona in the semi-finals by winning 4-0 at Anfield, advancing to the final. Mbappe’s confidence signals that Madrid will fight until the final whistle in the second leg next week.
