Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal didn’t hold back after helping his side defeat Real Madrid 3-2 in a dramatic Copa del Rey final.
Hansi Flick’s men took the lead through Pedri, but Real Madrid turned the tables with quick goals from Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni. Just when it seemed like Madrid would snatch the trophy, Ferran Torres forced extra time, and Jules Kounde sealed the win with a late 116th-minute strike. Tensions boiled over after the final whistle, with Antonio Rudiger, Jude Bellingham, and Lucas Vazquez all seeing red cards.
After the match, Yamal aimed a brutal dig at their rivals, telling reporters:
“This year, they simply can’t beat us. We’ve proven that. I’m really happy. Visca Barca!”
Yamal’s confidence isn’t unfounded. Barcelona have now defeated Real Madrid three times this season including a 4-0 thrashing at the Bernabeu and a 5-2 victory in the Supercopa de Espana final, where Yamal also found the net.
With the two sides set to meet again on May 11 in La Liga and Barcelona four points clear at the top Yamal and Barcelona are smelling blood as they chase a famous season.
