Pop icon Madonna has made a passionate appeal to Pope Leo XIV, urging him to travel to Gaza and “bring light to the children as the humanitarian crisis deepens.
In an Instagram post, the 66-year-old singer told the Pontiff he was the only one of us who cannot be denied entry and called on him to act without delay.
Most Holy Father, please go to Gaza before it’s too late. As a mother, I cannot bear to watch their suffering. The children of the world belong to everyone, she wrote.
Her plea comes as the UK, EU, Australia, Canada, and Japan warned that “famine is unfolding in front of our eyes” in Gaza, demanding urgent action to stop starvation.
While Israel denies there is famine, it accuses UN agencies of failing to pick up and deliver aid from the borders. The UN says the volume of supplies entering Gaza remains far below what is needed and blames restrictions and delays at Israeli-controlled crossings.
Madonna, who recently released her remix album Veronica Electronica, also pressed for humanitarian gates to be fully opened to save innocent lives.
Pope Leo XIV has repeatedly condemned civilian casualties in Gaza and renewed calls for a ceasefire. In July, he denounced an Israeli strike that killed three people inside a Catholic church, urging the world to respect humanitarian law and protect civilians.
