Megan Rapinoe takes The Best women’s player award

Megan Rapinoe was named as the winner of The Best FIFA Women’s Player award for 2019 after conquering the World Cup with the United States.

Rapinoe shone in France and finished ahead of compatriot Alex Morgan and England’s Lucy Bronze.

Atletico Madrid and Netherlands goalkeeper Sari van Veenedaal rules women’s football’s goals after she came out on top for that award, ahead of Paris Saint-Germain‘s Christiane Endler and Sweden’s Hedvig Lindahl.

A best hypothetical XI was also constructed, with both Rapinoe and Van Veenedaalfeaturing, as well as Morgan and Bronze.

Meanwhile, World Cup winner Jill Ellis beat Phil Neville and Sarina Wiegmanto the title for the best coach.

“I want to congratulate Phil and Sarina for doing this very complicated job,” she said.

“I’d like to thank my fantastic players. 

“We coaches know that without their talent and dedication we couldn’t win these titles.”
