Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer Mohbad, has once again stated that his son will not be buried until a DNA test is carried out to confirm the paternity of Mohbad’s child.
Earlier, a Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, ordered a DNA test to determine whether Liam Aloba is truly the biological son of the deceased artist. Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga issued the directive following an application submitted by Joseph Aloba.
In a video shared on his TikTok account and seen by Gidipoint on Sunday, Aloba alleged that influential figures were working to hinder the DNA testing process. He also revealed that he is considering moving the case out of Lagos State, possibly to Ekiti State, after consulting with his lawyer.
Some powerful people are using Mohbad’s death to frustrate me. After the toxicology report, nothing was revealed, and now they have chosen a questionable DNA center, Aloba said. If possible, we may seek to transfer the case from Lagos to Ekiti State. I’ll consult my lawyer about this.
Aloba emphasized that the DNA test is essential before his son’s burial can proceed. He called on the Lagos State Government to allow the process to move forward, insisting that the test is a crucial piece of evidence.
I am appealing to the Lagos State Government to let me bury my son, but without a DNA test, we cannot continue. The test is part of the required evidence,” he stated.
He also urged the public to support his demand, stressing the importance of the test in establishing key facts.
Previously, the family’s legal representatives voiced concerns over the competence of some laboratories chosen for the paternity test. The family’s lawyer, Oladayo Ogungbe, noted that on February 24, 2026, the court ordered the DNA test to be carried out at three mutually agreed laboratories to ensure transparency. These laboratories are DNA Diagnostics Centre, AlphaBiolabs, and Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited. However, preliminary checks raised doubts about the technical capabilities of some of these facilities.
Mohbad passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances, which led to nationwide outrage and ongoing legal battles over his estate, royalties, and paternity. His son, Liam, born in April 2023, remains at the center of the paternity dispute, which continues to attract widespread public attention.
