Wunmi, the widow of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has broken her silence on life after his death, revealing her struggles with family tensions and the fight over his assets.
In an emotional interview with Chude Jideonwo, Wunmi expressed her frustration and fears surrounding Mohbad’s estate, the controversy over his passing, and the relentless demands for a DNA test to confirm their son Liam’s paternity.
“Sometimes I feel like God cheated my husband; he didn’t have to die,” she said, overwhelmed with emotions. “We no longer feel safe, and I get death threats literally every day in my DMs. It has gotten to the point that I either speak up or die in silence.”
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, passed away in September 2023 under mysterious circumstances, sparking investigations and widespread public outcry. Since his passing, Wunmi has faced intense scrutiny, accusations, and family disputes.
She alleged that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, is trying to take control of Mohbad’s properties while also making hurtful remarks about their son.
“My father-in-law wanted to control my husband’s properties, and he would literally go all out to destroy my life. He was the one who restricted the marriage, yet he was the happiest during the wedding. He has been chastising Liam so much. In fact, he was saying that my son has bow legs and that they don’t have such in their family. He even said Liam’s face looks older than his. He went as far as saying that Mohbad wanted to throw our son into the lagoon under the Third Mainland Bridge.”
Regarding the ongoing demand for a DNA test, Wunmi stated:
“I have been making it clear that I’m ready to do the DNA test, but he [Joseph Aloba] was saying that once I do it, I shouldn’t make the results public.”
The controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death continues to generate debate among fans, the public, and authorities as investigations remain ongoing.
