The grandson of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali is preparing to emulate his grandfather by making his professional boxing debut this summer.
Nico Ali Walsh, the 20-year-old son of Ali‘s youngest daughter Rasheda, has signed with Top Rank, the promoting company run by his grandfather’s former promoter Bob Arum.
“I am honoured to continue the fighting legacy that my grandfather started,” said Ali Walsh in an interview with Izquierdazo.
“It’s a responsibility that I don’t take lightly.”
Ali Walsh already has 30 fights as an amateur to his name and has teamed up ahead with the promoter of 27 of his grandfather’s fights ahead of his first pro bout in August.
The most famous of the events Arum promoted was between Ali and Joe Frazier in 1975, which is widely considered as the greatest fight of all time.
