The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) announced on Sunday that it had discovered a warehouse in Lagos stocked with banned, substandard, and unregistered cosmetic products.
According to a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) page, NAFDAC revealed that the products, valued at more than ₦3 billion, were found at the APT Trade Fair Complex. The agency noted that the warehouse was hidden inside an uncompleted building.
Among the items seized were 728 cartons of Crusader soap, 718 cartons of E45 soap, and Extract Gold whitening soaps—all of which are prohibited by the Federal Government. Additional products, including various perfumes, body oils, and cooking oils, were also discovered and have been placed on hold pending further regulatory evaluation.
NAFDAC confirmed that all confiscated items have been removed to prevent their distribution. The warehouse manager has been summoned for further investigation, and enforcement efforts are ongoing.
The agency warned that the sale and use of these products pose serious health hazards. Members of the public are urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.
