Olympic Village less than half complete

With only 10 days standing between now and the start of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the Olympic Village still requires major work.

The deadline is approaching fast, and yet 19 of the 31 buildings have still not been passed as habitable.As revealed by The Guardian, 11 delegations have already been involved in problems with the accommodation, with a small fire sparked by a short circuit affecting things for the Netherlands team, who neighbour the Spanish contingent that will go out to Brazil.

Despite the aforementioned problems only set to be an issue in a small part of each building, what is becoming certain is that many of the those travelling to compete will be subject to discomfort.

Although they are working 24 hours per day, it is going to be a great challenge to get all of this in order before the start of the Games,” maintained Maurits Hendriks, head of the Dutch Olympic team and coach of their 2008 games’ hockey squad.
