Pep Guardiola Pays Tribute to Jack Grealish After Emotional Goal for Late Brother

Pep Guardiola has hailed Jack Grealish for his emotional tribute to his late brother after scoring in Manchester City’s 3-1 win over Leicester City. The England international scored just two minutes into the match, marking his first Premier League goal since December 2023.

The goal was particularly poignant for Grealish, as it came on the 25th anniversary of his brother Keelan’s passing. Grealish was just four years old when he tragically lost his sibling in April 2000. After scoring, he pointed to the sky in a heartfelt celebration and later posted on social media: “With me always, especially this day. That was for you, Keelan.”

Guardiola, who was unaware of the anniversary, spoke highly of Grealish’s character: “Jack is an incredible human being. I can’t imagine how tough it can be for his family. It’s good that this day he remembers him. I’m pretty sure they remember every single day. He scored a goal and made a good game.”

Grealish was deployed in a No.10 playmaking role against Leicester, a position he thrives in, and Guardiola praised his adaptability and performance. “He likes to play in the middle. He’s a guy who used to play free. He’s comfortable playing on the side. Always between the lines, he has ability.”

City, still fighting for a top-four finish and FA Cup glory, will next face Manchester United in a high-stakes derby at Old Trafford this Sunday.
