Though he did not specify the reason for his change of heart, Banks emphasised that his decision is unrelated to his music career. Instead, he attributed it to personal growth and emotional maturity, while leaving the door open for marriage in the future.
In my last interview, which was two months ago, I was pretty sure about my stance. I said I would get married later in the year, but now I’m in a very different place, he said.
So, I can’t say anything definite about getting married now. Back then, I was sure, but now I’m not.
It has nothing to do with my music career. It’s about me and my emotional intelligence, which I’m still working on.
Despite his uncertainty, Banks affirmed that he still believes in marriage, citing his parents’ relationship as his ideal.
Absolutely, I’m still open to getting married in the future. That’s the life I’ve always known because my parents were married until my mum passed away, he added.
The singer welcomed his first child with his British partner in September 2024.
Born Ayoleyi Solomon, Banks signed with Mavin Records in 2014, where he gained widespread fame.
He exited the Don Jazzy-owned label four years later, continuing his successful career independently.
