Rema, the Nigerian singer, has paid a surprise visit to the community where he grew up in Benin City.
In a video shared on his record label’s Instagram page, the ‘Calm Down’ hitmaker is seen stepping out of a house while being held by an elderly woman who appeared familiar with him.
As he emerged, residents gathered around, visibly excited to see the singer, with many recording videos and taking photos.
Some of the locals could also be heard calling him by his birth name, Divine and others referred to him as Big Divine, while expressing gratitude and shouting thank you so much.
Rem made a surprise visit to his childhood community in Benin city where he grew up. With friends, family and neighbours exyto welcome him home, the caption reads.
In another post, it was revealed that Rema also visited a church, where he attended a Sunday service with his mother.
In the video shared, the singer was seen having a conversation with his mum and the church pastor, as well as being escorted out after the service.

Rema is known for his strong attachment to his home state, which he visits occasionally.
In 2024, during his homecoming concert in Benin City, the singer pledged to donate N105 million to the Benin branch of Christ Embassy, the church founded by Chris Oyakhilome.
He announced that N85 million would go to the church, while N20 million was pledged to a widow from the congregation.
