On Monday, the list of the 30 nominees for the 2016 Ballon d’Or will be revealed, and it’s already known that Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale will be among them. The first list of names was released at 08.00 CET and the Real Madrid duo were accompanied by Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang of Borussia Dortmund and Juventus keeper Gianluigi Buffon.
Antoine Griezmann headed the second set of names released, along with teammate Diego Godin, Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala and Kevin De Bruyne.
France Football will continue to release further nominees throughout Monday in six stages and in alphabetical order up until 18.30 CET.The last 15 names will be revealed from 17:45 CET live on the “L’Equipe Type” programme.
A final date for the delivery of the award is not yet known but the ceremony will be held before the end of the year and not early next, as in the six previous editions. This new format, unveiled on September 20, eliminates the intermediate stage of the announcement of the three finalists.
