Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami has revealed the trauma and rejection he faced early in his career when movie producers denied him roles due to his appearance.
Speaking on Feelrightnews TV’s YouTube channel, Salami recounted how he struggled through auditions, often traveling long distances in search of opportunities.
Three Years, One Role: A Struggle for Recognition
Despite his passion and persistence, the actor said he was rejected for three years, securing only one movie role in that time. However, the most painful rejection came when producers told him that his face and body did not fit the roles available.
“I cried when some producers said they couldn’t give me movie roles because of my face and body,” Salami admitted.
Turning Pain into Progress
Faced with constant rejection, Salami decided to return to school to improve his skills and explore other opportunities. His story is a testament to resilience, proving that hard work and perseverance can open doors even when the odds seem stacked against you.
