Afrobeats sensation Ruger, real name Michael Adebayo Olayinka, has announced that 2025 will be the year he gets married.
The Asiwaju singer revealed that he made the decision after observing the increasing number of people getting married. According to him, the trend made him reflect on his playboy lifestyle and consider his age, as he will soon turn 30.
Sharing the news on Snapchat, Ruger wrote:
“Everybody is just getting married. Got me questioning myself—how long will I continue this Playboy shiii? I’m settling down this year, period. I’ll soon be 30, tf.”
The announcement comes as a surprise to many, as Ruger had previously declared that he could love multiple women equally at the same time. He once admitted that he falls in love easily, especially when showered with gifts and compliments.
However, Ruger is not the only Nigerian celebrity considering marriage this year.
DJ Cuppy Also Hoping for Marriage in 2025
Just weeks ago, popular disc jockey and billionaire heiress, Florence Otedola, aka DJ Cuppy, publicly declared her desire to get married soon.
On Valentine’s Day, Cuppy took to her X (formerly Twitter) handle to manifest that it would be the last one she celebrates as a single woman.
“Happy #ValentinesDay to me! Manifesting that this is my last one unmarried. Lord, do your thing!” she wrote.
At 32, DJ Cuppy has had a rollercoaster love life, with past relationships including former Super Eagles striker Victor Anichebe. However, their romance ended in 2017 due to long-distance struggles.
With Ruger and Cuppy both making bold declarations about settling down, 2025 might just be the year of celebrity weddings in Nigeria.
