Several athletes at the Olympic Games could see themselves punished after being caught drinking alcohol inside the Olympic Village. Toshiro Muto, director-general of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, has confirmed that a number of athletes were spotted drinking alcohol at a park inside the Village on Saturday night.
While consuming alcohol is not forbidden inside the Village, athletes are only allowed to do so in their private rooms and not in common or public areas.

According to insidethegames.biz, the athletes involved could now face disciplinary measures.
“On the night of July 31, multiple athletes and members of the delegation were at the park within the Village and they were drinking alcohol and we are aware of this fact,” said Muto, again reported by insidethegames.biz
Currently, we are investigating the situation and, based on the results, we will take the appropriate action.”
Removal from the games is the strongest possible penalty that can be handed down. They are, though, more likely to be sanctioned with fines.
