Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed the signing of Saido Berahino who returns to English football after two years away.
The Burundi international has not played for an English team since his departure from Stoke City at the end of the 2018-19 season.
Since then he has been playing his football in the Belgian Pro League for Zulte Waregem which included a loan spell at Charleroi last season.
Berahino though has got another shot at English football in the form of League One side Sheffield Wednesday who have signed him on a free transfer.
In joining the Owls, he reunites with manager Darren Moore who was a coach at West Brom when Berahino was at the Baggies.
The strikerlooked like a potential England star of the future after scoring 14 goals for West Brom during the 2014-15 season in the Premier League.
He even held talks with Tottenham though a deal could not be agreed with the Baggies on deadline day of the summer transfer window in 2015.
We are delighted to announce the permanent signing of @SBerahino! 🦉 🖊️#swfc— Sheffield Wednesday (@swfc) August 31, 2021
