Syrian Asylum Seeker Blows Himself Up Outside Music Festival in Germany. A 27-year-old Syrian man has blown himself up after being denied entry into a music concert in Ansbach, South Germany, Al Jazeera reports.

Reports say the attacker was denied asylum about a year ago and was to be deported to Bulgaria.

“He came to Germany two years ago and his asylum application was rejected last year for reasons that we don’t know right at this minute He had been based in Germany with the knowledge that he was not going to receive permanent asylum in this country. He had twice before tried to take his life and he had at some point in the recent past been receiving psychiatric help,” says Al Jazeera’s Dominic Kane, reporting from Berlin.

Authorities are unclear of his motive, whether he intended to commit suicide or to kill others.

“Whether there is an Islamist link or not is purely speculation at this point,” said Michael Schrotberger from the prosecutor’s office in Ansbach

Officials say about 12 people were injured following the explosion.

About 2,500 persons have been evacuated from the area and 3 of the injured are seriously hurt, officials say.

This is coming days after a teen gunman opened fire at a shopping mall in Munich killing 9 persons before reportedly killing himself.
