Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has expressed optimism about the future after his side were eliminated from the Champions League by Inter Milan on Wednesday night.
Despite battling to a 2-2 draw at the San Siro, Bayern bowed out of the quarter-finals 4-3 on aggregate. However, Kompany refused to be disheartened, stating:
“Football is all about details… We’re not going to play the final in Munich, but in five months there will be Champions League again and a lot of games in Munich. That’s football, that’s life.”
He praised both teams’ performances, acknowledging Inter’s strength in attack and set pieces while also highlighting Bayern’s own chances during the tie.
Kompany remains hopeful, reminding fans that the Club World Cup is around the corner and silverware is still within reach.
“In two months, we have the Club World Cup, and we’ll try to win another title.”
With five Bundesliga games to go and a six-point lead at the top, Bayern’s domestic hopes are still alive. They’ll aim to bounce back this weekend against Heidenheim.
