The Nigerian U-20 women’s national football team, the Falconets, will travel to Dakar on Tuesday as they prepare for the second leg of their 2026 FIFA U-20 World Cup third qualifying round tie against Senegal.
Nigeria holds a slight advantage after winning the first leg 1-0 in Abeokuta, with Kindness Ifeanyi scoring the decisive header in the 51st minute.
The Falconets now need at least a draw in Dakar to secure their place in the next round of the qualifiers.
The team will leave Abeokuta for Lagos, where they will board a flight to Senegal. Coach Moses Aduku has emphasized the importance of staying focused and disciplined, warning that Senegal will be a tough opponent on their home ground.
The winner of the Nigeria-Senegal tie on aggregate will advance to face either Guinea-Bissau or Malawi in the final qualifying round.
The first leg between Guinea-Bissau and Malawi ended in a 1-1 draw, setting up another competitive clash for the Falconets’ potential next opponent.
The Nigerian team is determined to build on their narrow victory and maintain their momentum as they aim to qualify for the U-20 World Cup.
