Richard Montgomery, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, has urged Nigerians to stay vigilant against visa fraud and to use only official channels when applying for UK visas.
Speaking at the UK-Nigeria Economic Growth Conference on Wednesday in Abuja, Montgomery emphasized the importance of submitting accurate documentation to avoid denials.
He acknowledged concerns over visa rejections but assured that many Nigerians continue to receive visas successfully. We process about 1,500 visa applications daily from Nigeria,” he said, adding that Nigerians make up around 10 per cent of all UK visitors.
Montgomery explained that the UK receives over 37.9 million visitors annually, and the strong representation from Nigeria reflects the deep-rooted historical and diplomatic ties between the two countries.
According to him, most rejections stem from documentation issues rather than ineligibility. He noted various application options available, including standard, priority, and super priority services.
