The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital chapter, has called off its strike. The association’s Chairman, Dr Ade Faponle, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Ilorin.

Faponle said that the strike was called off following interventions by the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, the Emir of Shonga, Dr Haliru Yahaya, among others.
He also said that Saraki and others gave NARD assurance that their grievances and demands would be looked into.

“The strike is also called off in the interest of patients who have been suffering, and members of the association will resume work on Tuesday, Oct. 25,” he said.
According to Faponle, the association has confidence in the ability of the mediating parties to secure the entitlements of its members.
