Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has urged his teammates to give their all in the final stretch of the season as the Reds push for the Premier League title.
After suffering back-to-back defeats to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final, Liverpool’s hopes of a treble were shattered. However, the Merseyside club remains 12 points clear at the top of the league and remains firm favorites for the title.
Speaking after their Wembley heartbreak, Van Dijk stressed the importance of bouncing back:
“We have to turn this around. That’s how football works: in five days, you lose twice, and it feels like the world is sinking. Two weeks ago, everything was sunshine and rainbows. But we still have nine games to go, and the Premier League is the biggest prize of all. No one expected us to be in this position, and now we have to work our ass off to get it done.”
Update on Van Dijk’s Liverpool Future
The Dutchman also addressed speculation about his future, revealing that an announcement will be made before the end of the season.
“Before the end of the season, there’s going to be news. As long as I’m fully committed and have my full focus on the task ahead—and I love the club—that’s the main thing. That’s who I am.”
Liverpool’s Next Fixture
Following the international break, Arne Slot’s side will return to action on April 2, facing arch-rivals Everton in a crucial Merseyside derby at Anfield.
