Bolaji Adedotun Olanrewaju, Nigerian gospel artiste better known as Big Bolaji, has been laid to rest in Ibadan, Oyo state.
The 50-year-old singer died on April 19 following a brief illness.
His final rites began with a funeral service and lying-in-state ceremony held on Wednesday at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre in Ibadan.
The event was attended by family, friends, and fellow gospel ministers, including Tosin Bee, Mike Abdul, Bidemi Olaoba, Yetunde Are, and comedian Woli Agba.
Emotional scenes unfolded on social media of pallbearers carrying Bolaji’s flower-adorned casket into the venue.
Mourners, including his family and colleagues, paid their last respects while a tribute video celebrating his life and musical legacy was played.
The burial procession proceeded to the All Souls Private Cemetery in Ido, Ibadan, where his wife, siblings, and loved ones gathered as he was laid to rest.
Prior to the final burial, several events were held, including a night of praise and tribute on May 18 in London, a celebration of life on May 26 in Lagos, and a service of songs on May 27 in Ibadan.
Aside from being a gospel singer, Bolaji was an ordained minister in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), where he served for over 19 years.
He was also known for his annual concert, Turnitup With Big Bolaji, held in Ibadan.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
