West Ham needed extra time to make it into the Europa League quarter-finals after a 1-0 scoreline after 90 minutes which meant it was 1-1 on aggregate, until Andriy Yarmolenko popped up in extra time to give the Hammers a 2-1 win on aggregate over Sevilla.
Sevilla had won the first leg in Spain, but Thomas Soucek levelled the tie just before half time and then midway through extra time, Yarmolenko tapped home a rebound to send the Hammers through.
The first major chance fell Sevilla‘s way after 27 minutes, as Youssef En-Nesyri hammered a fierce shot towards goal from inside the area, but Alphonse Areola stuck out a hand to make a remarkable save.
Less than a minute later, Michail Antonio raced through on goal, but his tame shot was easily palmed away by Bono.
The hosts were ahead with 39 minutes on the clock, as Thomas Soucek met Michail Antonio‘s cross to power an unstoppable header into the top corner.
After the break Sevilla struggled to get going and Soucek had another opportunity which was saved by Bono, while Declan Rice fired the rebound into the side-netting. Michail Antonio saw his shot blocked by Jules Kounde.
As the half drew to a close, Sevilla did get themselves into the game and Anthony Martial found En-Nesyri, but he had Kurt Zouma in the way. Then right at the death, Said Benrahma burst down the left and cut inside before curling an effort towards the far corner, but Bono makes the save.
