Lagos taskforce arrests notorious hoodlum, 15 others in Gbagada

The Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit has arrested a suspected notorious hoodlum leader, Tunde Aigboje, popularly Called “Tallest” and 15 members of his gang who usually terrorized people around Gbagada and Oworonshoki areas of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The operation, which was to clear all illegal shanties constructed around Gbagada dump-site met stiff resistance from the hoodlums.
The hoodlums, who attacked taskforce officials and para-miltary men with cutlass, guns and broken bottles succeeded in injuring one paramilitary officer, Mr Duncan Daniel with bottle and cutlass.
While the fracas lasted, the entire Oworonshoki to Anthony Express road was blocked by hoodlums and miscreants who were shooting and hauling bottles at different directions forcing residents and motorists to scamper for safety.

Adebayo Taofiq, Public Affairs Officer, Lagos State Taskforce, in a statement said the agency acted on received petitions from residents around Gbagada and Oworonshoki about the activities of these hoodlums who had turned Gbagada dumpsite to their homes where they carry out criminal activities at night by attacking and dispossessing people around that area of their valuables.
“The wounded paramilitary officer who had his five fingers scattered with bottles and cutlass was rushed to the Lagos State Emergency Unit at toll-gate and was immediately referred to Igbobi Orthopedic Hospital for an urgent surgery on his left hand,” he said.
He added that the Light-up Lagos Project of the state government was really assisting the agency as criminals and miscreants were easily noticed while carrying out their devilish act at night.
“Again there is no more hide outs for criminals as everywhere including under bridges have been illuminated.
“The Agency hereby enjoins members of the public to report immediately if they notice any strange movement around their vicinity,” he added.
Meanwhile more than 85 private and commercial vehicles, including 19 motorcycles were impounded at Club Road, Ikoyi for illegal parking and obstruction of traffic around the area.
The 19 motorcycles were impounded for plying restricted routes around Ikoyi area while 15 illegal shanties were demolished by the officials of Task Force.
The taskforce warned every security personnel across the state to comply with the Lagos State Traffic Laws of 2012 or have his or her vehicles or motorcycles impounded.
