Nollywood actress Remi Surutu has publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 general elections.
Surutu made her endorsement known at the launch of EKO57, a support group established to mobilize public support for Tinubu’s second term bid. During the event, she addressed critics who questioned her loyalty, stressing that her allegiance to Tinubu dates back to his tenure as governor of Lagos State.
Recalling her experiences during the 2023 elections, Surutu shared how she faced harsh criticism but remained resolute. A day before the election, people tried to convince me that I was supporting someone responsible for my child’s death. I ignored it and still went out to vote the next day. Your vote is your right—don’t let anyone intimidate you, she said.
Reaffirming her commitment, Surutu pledged to actively campaign and vote for President Tinubu. He has my vote, and I am standing by him. Anyone trying to scare people or discourage them from supporting him should know that I am not afraid, she added.
Surutu also commended Tinubu’s dedication to leadership, highlighting his and his family’s tireless service to the nation. This man does not sleep. His wife and son are constantly on the move, serving the nation. How many politicians’ families are this engaged? she remarked.
She concluded by attributing some of Nigeria’s challenges to the attitudes of its citizens, while expressing confidence in Tinubu’s capability to lead effectively.
