Charles Akonnor, the coach of the Ghana national team, would like Thomas Partey to stay with Atletico Madrid because it should see him play Champions League football year after year.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to Arsenal, but the national team coach would rather see his star player stay at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.
“Arsenal fans will kill me for saying this,” he said, as reported by the Daily Mail.
“Honestly, I wouldn’t want him to move to Arsenal because, with Atletico, he will always play Champions League football.
“His position is guaranteed and he will always play.
“With Arsenal, I’m not too sure.
“I hope whatever he asks for Atletico will be able to pay.
