The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards were long-awaited and they took place today at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J, and they were hosted by none other than legendary rapper and actor LL Cool J as well as female rapper Nikki Minaj.
Bad Bunny made history by winning the Best Artist Award
Both attendees and viewers got to watch iconic performances by Lizzo, J Balvin, Marshmello, Anitta, Panic! At the Disco, Kane Brown Maneskin, and Jack Harlow while Snoop Dogg and Eminem blew minds with a metaverse performance of their nominated song “From The D 2 the LBC .”
Nikki Minage gave a heartfelt speech
Nikki Minaj was awarded the Video Vanguard award after she performed a medley of many of her most famous songs from “Super Bass” to “Super Freaky Girl.” After she received the award, she mentioned in her speech that she wished that Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson could have been in New Jersey to celebrate with her “I wish people took mental health seriously, even for those who seem to have perfect lives,”
