To mark the release of his fifth studio album 5IVE, Afrobeats heavyweight Davido treated a select group of superfans and media partners to an unforgettable meet-and-greet in Lagos, powered by Spotify.
Unlike typical invites, Spotify challenged fans to prove their loyalty by acing a five-question quiz on Davido’s music with only 50 fans and 5 media outlets making the cut. The reward? An up-close and personal experience with the hitmaker himself.
Hosted by Ireculture and soundtracked by SmallztheDJ, the event delivered an afternoon of vibrant Afrobeats, surprise moments, and real connection. The biggest surprise? Davido pulled a signature move faking his absence before bursting in unexpectedly, sparking wild cheers from fans.
Speaking on the occasion, Spotify’s Victor Okapala, Lead for Artist & Label Partnerships in West Africa, said:

Fans praised the new album during an intimate roundtable chat, with the track ‘10 Kilo’ quickly emerging as a fan-favourite. Attendees also received curated gift boxes featuring exclusive ‘5IVE’ merch by Nigerian streetwear brand Severe Nature.
Davido reflected on his career trajectory, saying:

Spotify revealed that over the past year, Davido’s music has been added to 12 million+ playlists, with core listeners based in Nigeria, the U.S., U.K., South Africa, and France. Notably, 34% of his audience is aged 18-24, and 41% are 25-34, underscoring his youth appeal.
With 5IVE gaining traction globally, this event not only celebrated its release but also deepened the bond between Davido and his ever-loyal fanbase.
