Nollywood actress Chita Agwu has announced the official dissolution of her marriage to John Maduabuchi.
In a heartfelt post shared via her Instagram story, Agwu revealed that she is embracing a new phase of her life “with peace, grace, and dignity.”
Reflecting on her experience, Agwu described marriage as a deeply personal journey and acknowledged that not every relationship unfolds as one might hope. She emphasized the importance of allowing individuals to move on without being subjected to public judgment or humiliation.
“After much reflection and a profoundly personal journey, I wish to officially inform the public that my marriage has been legally dissolved by the court,” she shared. “This chapter of my life has come to an end, and I have chosen to embrace this new beginning with peace, grace, and dignity. Marriage is a personal journey, and not every story ends the way we once hoped. However, I believe everyone deserves the freedom to move forward without judgment, ridicule, or public humiliation.”
Agwu also stated that she will not disclose private details or engage in public discussions about the circumstances of her divorce, out of respect for all involved. She appealed for privacy for herself and her former partner, expressing gratitude to those who have supported her.
“As I begin this new chapter, I choose peace over controversy, healing over bitterness, and growth over public explanations. My marriage has ended, but my life continues. I move forward with my head held high, my dignity intact, and my heart open to the future,” she concluded.
Chita and John had their traditional wedding in 2014, followed by their white wedding ceremony in 2015.
Their union was blessed with children.
Chita began acting at a young age but went full-time in 2009. She gained prominence for her role in the movie ‘The Bet’ and has since featured in several Nollywood films.
