Chelsea Football Club has dismissed head coach Liam Rosenior after just 107 days in charge, following a disappointing sequence of five straight Premier League defeats without scoring a goal.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the club acknowledged that the decision was difficult but necessary, citing recent results and performances that have fallen below the necessary standards.

The club praised Rosenior’s integrity and professionalism, noting that he conducted himself admirably after joining midway through the season. Chelsea also confirmed that the former Strasbourg manager leaves with the team still in contention for the FA Cup and aiming for European qualification.
“Everyone at Chelsea FC wishes Liam every success in the future,” the statement added.
Rosenior, who was appointed in January on a six-year contract to succeed Enzo Maresca, departs with Chelsea sitting seventh in the Premier League, seven points adrift of the Champions League places.
Calum McFarlane has been named interim head coach for the remainder of the season and will take charge for Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Leeds at Wembley, supported by the current backroom staff.
The club stated that it will now begin a period of self-reflection to ensure the next head coach appointment is the right one for the long term, as it seeks to bring stability to the position.
Rosenior’s departure comes after a run of losses to Newcastle, Everton, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Brighton, in which Chelsea failed to find the net in any of the matches.
