Police Launch Manhunt for Suspects Following Abduction of Nine-Year-Old Boy

The Ondo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the suspected kidnappers who abducted a nine-year-old boy, Master Olaosebikan Victor, from Ugbosi Quarters in Idogun, Ose Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh revealed this in a statement issued Friday in Akure. According to Jimoh, the incident was reported at around 2:30 a.m. by residents Mr. Olaosebikan Isaac and Mr. Joel Owalekan. They recounted that at about 1:30 a.m., a group of armed men stormed their community, firing gunshots indiscriminately and causing widespread panic.

During the invasion, the assailants broke into Mr. Isaac’s home. In a bid to escape, Isaac fled into the nearby bush, leaving behind his son, who was then taken by the kidnappers. Mr. Owalekan also reported that the attackers damaged his residence while attempting to force entry. He managed to escape unharmed by fleeing the scene.

Jimoh added that upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer, along with his team and members of the Amotekun Corps, immediately mobilized to the area, launching a coordinated search-and-rescue mission. Security operatives are currently combing the surrounding forests and possible escape routes in an effort to rescue the child and apprehend the suspects.

Investigations are underway, with relevant evidence already recovered and documented to aid in identifying those responsible for the attack. The police command is working closely with other security agencies and local vigilante groups to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Jimoh assured the public that all available resources are being deployed to ensure the safe return of the abducted boy. He also urged residents to remain calm and vigilant, and to cooperate with security agencies by providing any useful information. Anyone with credible information about the incident or the kidnappers is encouraged to contact the nearest police station or security agency.
