Nigerian actress Destiny Etiko announced on Sunday that public donations for fellow actor Ikechukwu Nweke have reached ₦13 million, as he continues his fight against cancer.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Etiko thanked everyone who contributed, saying the outpouring of support has given Nweke renewed hope.
“₦13 million has been raised so far for Ike’s treatment. Thank you so much, Nigerians. This is truly overwhelming for us,” she wrote.
“God will replenish everyone who has contributed and helped spread the word. @ikechukwunwekeofficial is deeply grateful and now has a stronger hope of surviving this illness. Let’s fight this cancer—he must survive.”
Etiko also urged those who have not yet donated to join the campaign.
“We are almost there. For those who haven’t contributed, let’s help save a soul,” she added.
The fundraising effort began days earlier after Nweke revealed he had been diagnosed with colon cancer in 2025. The actor shared that he had already spent over ₦15 million of his personal savings on surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy—with the help of family, friends, and colleagues—but still needed more financial support for his next phase of treatment.
Colon cancer is a form of cancer that starts in the colon, which is the longest part of the large intestine.
Nweke’s appeal comes shortly after another Nollywood actress, Cynthia Anijekwu, also received over ₦13 million in donations following her public plea for help with cancer treatment. Anijekwu, who was diagnosed in 2023, revealed that after her initial treatment, the cancer returned and spread to her breast and bones.
