MRS filling stations, a key partner of Dangote Refinery, have remained closed for at least seven days amid the recent surge in fuel prices.
Investigations by Gidipoint revealed that MRS stations across Abuja and surrounding areas have not received Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) supplies since July 17, 2026.
A manager at one of the affected MRS stations, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the situation on Friday. We have not received any fuel supply since last Thursday. However, we expect deliveries today (Friday) following the resumption of Dangote Refinery’s gantry sales in naira, the manager stated.
It will be recalled that Dangote Refinery halted its gantry sales of petrol in naira on July 15, 2026, but resumed sales on Thursday, increasing the price to N1,215 per litre from N1,175.
Dangote Refinery’s decision to restart naira-based sales of refined petroleum products has brought some relief to the country’s downstream petroleum sector, which had faced significant uncertainty.
Meanwhile, depot owners and marketers have raised petrol prices twice within the past week. The retail price of petrol currently ranges between N1,300 and N1,340 per litre in parts of Abuja, according to DAILY POST.
