Troops from Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD have neutralized four suspected kidnappers and rescued an abducted victim during an early morning ambush in Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State.
The incident, reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama, occurred around 4:00 a.m. on July 22, when Sector 1 troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kaiama acted on credible intelligence.
According to Makama, the troops laid an ambush at a known crossing point along the Jonloji Village riverine axis, anticipating the movement of the suspected kidnappers. When the suspects arrived, the troops engaged them in a gunfight, resulting in the deaths of four suspected kidnappers. One kidnapped victim was successfully rescued during the operation.
Security forces also recovered a pump-action shotgun, four motorcycles, and ₦64,000 believed to be tied to the criminal gang. The rescued victim was promptly evacuated to Kaiama General Hospital for medical attention.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts under Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD to dismantle kidnapping and other criminal networks across Kwara State and neighboring regions. The troops continue to intensify offensive operations to enhance security and safeguard lives and property throughout the area.
