Troops from Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the Yobe State Hunters Group, have apprehended five suspected kidnappers in Jegalari Village, Fune Local Government Area, Yobe State.
Acting Military Information Officer Mohammed Goni announced on Friday that the arrests were made during a well-coordinated, intelligence-led operation on July 23, 2026.
The operation, carried out by the 233 Battalion stationed at Damaturu Military Cantonment, was based on credible intelligence regarding the suspects’ activities. During the raid, security forces recovered three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, assorted ammunition, and four mobile phones believed to be connected to the suspects’ criminal operations.
The suspects and the recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation to determine their involvement in kidnapping and other criminal activities. Goni emphasized that Operation Hadin Kai remains steadfast in its commitment to denying terrorists and criminal elements freedom of action across the northeast through sustained, intelligence-driven operations.
The military has urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious persons, movements, or activities to the nearest security agency. According to the statement, timely and credible information from law-abiding citizens is vital to ongoing efforts to safeguard communities and strengthen security in the region.
