Afrobeats star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has asserted that he would be unbeatable in any free and fair election in Nigeria if he ever chose to run for political office.
Speaking during a livestream with Carter Efe, Davido expressed confidence in his popularity and potential to win, but revealed he has no plans to contest for any position due to the widespread corruption in Nigeria’s electoral system.
Davido emphasized that he prefers to focus on his music career rather than enter politics under the current circumstances. He explained, In Nigeria, where they write election results? I don’t have time for that.
I’m not one of those you can cheat and just go home quietly. If you cheat me, I’ll react. For now, I’ll stick to my music until there’s transparency. Then, I might consider running.
He added, Nobody can beat me in any election—never! In a free and fair process, I could even win the presidential election in Nigeria.
But with the lack of transparency and the way results are manipulated, I’m not interested. Let’s wait and see what happens in the upcoming Osun gubernatorial election. For now, we’re just watching.
