The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recovered two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition following a raid on a suspected bandits’ hideout in the Dajin Madam Forest, situated between Plateau and Bauchi states.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the operation was conducted after further investigation into the arrest of four suspects allegedly involved in supplying arms, ammunition, and illicit substances to bandits. Operatives from the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out the raid on August 2, acting on credible intelligence provided by one of the arrested suspects, Musbahu Ishaq.
The intelligence led officers to the forest, where they uncovered a hideout reportedly maintained by the criminal syndicate. Further investigation revealed that Musbahu Ishaq had obtained arms and ammunition from Rabiu Hassan and supplied them to Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit kingpin who remains at large and is believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State.
Adeh stated that a search of the hideout resulted in the recovery of the two rifles and live ammunition, allegedly concealed in the forest. She added that efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate, recover additional weapons, and prosecute the suspects.
Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Sanusi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led operations, emphasizing that efforts would continue until all syndicate members are apprehended and brought to justice.
The police also urged residents to provide timely and credible information to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
