The family of late actress Tope Osoba has shared new details about her final hours, revealing that she repeatedly voiced fears that she might die on the day she eventually passed away.
Osoba’s death was announced on Wednesday, nearly two years after she underwent surgery for breast cancer in November 2024. Her family has since confirmed that she will be laid to rest on August 13, 2026.
In an interview granted to actor Kunle Afod, Tope’s two sisters recounted the sequence of events leading up to her death. According to them, Tope was on her way to visit her aunt, Kehinde Osoba, at church when she suddenly began accusing those around her of being kidnappers.
Concerned, the family took her to a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State, where Tope gave a statement. The investigating police officer (IPO) reportedly offered to buy her snacks. While at the station, Tope allegedly claimed that her fiancé had taken another wife and wanted her dead.
After leaving the station to continue their journey to Kehinde’s home—where they did not find her—Tope reportedly complained of feeling unwell after drinking cold water.
“While we were in the vehicle, she suddenly excreted. She then slumped forward. That was when I started crying. As I held her, I noticed her body was getting stiff. When we arrived at the hospital, we were referred to Ogun State Teaching Hospital, where we were told she had passed away,” one of the sisters recounted.
The family said they notified Tope’s paternal relatives, who insisted she be buried as soon as possible and that no autopsy should be performed.
The sisters also disclosed that Tope had stopped attending her post-surgery hospital appointments.
Earlier, Tope’s fiancé, Itunu Onadeko, had claimed that the actress died at the police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
