Nigeria boss, Stephen Keshi described his team’s defeat to France as unfair and attributed a large part of the defeat to American referee Mark Geiger.
“Referees are only human. They can be wrong, but not this wrong, never as wrong as today. I’m not happy with his performance,” said Keshi.
Keshi complained about “several cards” that, in his opinion, the referee should have shown to French players, although he was far more vocal regarding Emenike’s 18th minute goal which was disallowed for being offside. “No infraction was committed in the run-up to that goal. We don’t know why he didn’t give it and we’d like to know why,” said the African coach.
