Liverpool’s Mane hit with three-match ban for challenge on Ederson

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has been hit with a three-match ban after his high-feet challenge on Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson that left him needing stitches.Ederson uploaded an image of his bruised face on social media while Mane wrote an apology on his Instragram account.Liverpool are appealing the sanction that they believe is excessive.

I hope and wish Ederson a quick recovery. I am so sorry he was hurt during our accidental collision on the pitch and am sorry for him that he could not complete the match because of it. I pray he heals fast and is back playing very soon because he is highest quality player.🙏☝️
