A man who had been detained as part of the investigation into the theft of the medical report on the seven-time Formula 1 world champion, Michael Schumacher, has killed himself in his cell, Zurich prosecutors announced today.
The Zurich Prosecutor’s Office stated that the man was brought into custody on Tuesday, and was found hanging in his cell today. According to an initial investigation, no-one else is thought to have been involved in his death.

Prosecutors were investigating unknown persons for violating professional secrecy, after receiving a formal request from French authorities.
Schumacher spent several months in coma in a hospital in Grenoble (France) after suffering a skiing accident. His medical report was allegedly stolen and given to the press. After a complaint was lodged, police tracked down the IP address of the thief, which pointed to someone who worked for Rega, the Swiss air-rescue service.
Schumacher’s family had previously contacted Rega in order to transfer the racing driver from the Grenoble hospital where he was being treated to Lausanne, where is now recovering.
