The Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Emmanuel Kofi Nti, has revealed that the country has made plans to impose taxes on anointing oil, stickers and other items sold by churches.

Punch reports that the move, backed by the country’s president Nana Akufo-Addo, is backed by how churches have moved from providing charity to accumulating wealth.
Kofi Nti said:
The man of God; is he not an individual? And is he not accountable to the state for his tax obligations? There is an opportunity for us to look at it.
He was said to have fingered specifically Bishop Daniel Obinim, a popular pastor in the country, saying of his stickers: “it is income to him.”
