Nigerian actress Toyosi Adesanya has provided an update on the ongoing treatment and support for her colleague, Taiwo Hassan—widely known as ‘Ogogo’.
Recently, Ogogo’s family took to social media to seek help as the veteran actor battles stage four cancer.
According to his daughter Kira, the family learned of his diagnosis about three weeks ago, with the illness already affecting his abdomen.
She revealed that some hospitals have said they can no longer administer chemotherapy, prompting the family to ask for recommendations on alternative treatment options.
Kira also expressed gratitude to Senator Solomon Adeola, who represents Ogun West, noting that he has been assisting the family with medical expenses.
Lima, another of Ogogo’s daughters, confirmed that the senator has pledged continued financial support. She added that, contrary to suggestions from socialite Yhemo Lee, Ogogo is currently not fit to travel abroad for treatment.
In a recent Instagram update, Adesanya shared that Senator Adeola has gone further by connecting Ogogo with top cancer specialists. She expressed hope for a successful medical operation, writing:
Senator Yayi personally reached out to leading cancer specialists, and we are grateful that Ogogo has now been admitted to the operating theatre for treatment. We pray for a successful procedure, complete recovery, renewed strength, and many more years of good health for our beloved Nollywood legend.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has prayed, offered suggestions, shared the appeal, and shown concern for Ogogo. May God bless you all. Ogogo, we are standing with you. You will come out stronger!”
On Tuesday, fellow actors including Femi Adebayo, Muyiwa Ademola, and Bimbo Oshin also joined in calling for urgent support and prayers for Ogogo’s treatment.
