Akwa Ibom discharges three COVID-19 patients

Three COVID-19 patients have been discharged in Akwa Ibom state.

The patients were reunited with their family on Sunday after testing negative for the disease twice.

Two of the patients, Ememobong Udofa, a pharmacist, and Otobong Asuquo, a medical doctor, who spoke with journalists, expressed their appreciation to the state COVID-19 medical team.

Asuquo described his treatment as “top-notch” and advised residents to adhere to safety guidelines against the disease.

“The treatment here has been topnotch. There is a difference between how I came in here and how I am today,” Udofa said.

“I was well taken care of and I commend Governor Udom Emmanuel for his proactive stance against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and the medical team led by the Commissioner for Health, for the facilities put in place here. It helped in my speedy recovery.”

On his part, Asuquo said he knew the symptoms of the disease and that he isolated himself for 10 days while he reached out to the state medical team to come to his aid.

Dominic Ukpong, the state commissioner of health, said the government would not relent in its effort to contain the disease.

He added that the testing centres being set up by the state government would be ready soon.

The state earlier discharged three patients. It currently has 12 confirmed cases of the disease — with one death.
