Veteran entertainer and activist Charly Boy has cautioned that Nigeria risks a major crisis if celebrities continue to stay silent on issues affecting everyday citizens.
Recently, Charly Boy emphasized that musicians, actors, and other public figures have a duty to leverage their influence to address the nation’s challenges, insisting that many celebrities possess greater reach than politicians.
“Entertainers can shape public conversation through their music and public appearances. They shouldn’t hesitate to speak out on matters impacting their communities. They can do more—they have larger platforms than politicians. It won’t hurt them to speak up or make music that reflects reality,” he asserted.
The activist voiced deep concern over Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and social problems, warning that ignoring these growing issues could have dire consequences. “It’s going to explode in our faces,” he cautioned.
Charly Boy also pointed to economic hardship and the erosion of family values as key drivers of Nigeria’s social challenges, noting that financial pressures are pushing many families into difficult situations. He observed that traditional parenting methods may no longer be effective with today’s youth, who face realities starkly different from those of previous generations.
Despite his concerns, Charly Boy said he remains hopeful for Nigeria’s future, highlighting the resilience of young Nigerians who are creating opportunities and using their voices to demand change. He also commended the new wave of activists and social commentators who are increasingly speaking out on national issues.
